The transition from selfishness to bestowal happens in three stages:
- STOP HARMING OTHERS:
- First, we have to stop harming others and nature.
- We have to rise above our egos and selfishness, rise above the hatred we feel inside and stop harming other people, animals, plants and nature.
- We have to stop seeking to benefit ourselves at the expense of others.
- It is written, "Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:31, NIV)
- SEEK TO BENEFIT OTHERS:
- Then, we have to seek to benefit others and nature.
- We have to sense the needs and desires of others and seek to benefit them instead of ourselves. We have to stop living in ourselves and start living in others.
- We are all one family and we have to start treating each other as family. We have to connect with each other in mutual concern and responsibility and become genuinely concerned for each other's welfare and well-being.
- Also, Nature is an integral system that is completely interconnected. We have to reach harmony and balance with nature by living an integral live that is interconnected with others and with all of nature. We're a part of nature, not above it.
- It is written, "... love your neighbour as yourself ..." (Leviticus 19:18, NKJV)
- THE LOVE OF GOD:
- Lastly, we have to reach the love of God.
- As it is written, "You shall love the LORD (Yahweh) your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." (Deuteronomy 6:5, NKJV)
