I have the stigmata [1] on my body, as it is written, "And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them." (Quran 4:157, Sahih)
Here are photographs of the scars that I have on my body and an explanation of how I got them. I got all of these scars in Kenya, and they're listed in order of occurrence:
- A Scar On My Knee:
- I got the scar on my right knee when we were moving from Nairobi to Nanyuki in Kenya. I was carrying something from the house to the car and I tripped and fell on a sharp stone. The fact that it happened while we were moving, represents moving from the quality of selfishness (seeking to benefit ourselves) to the quality of bestowal (seeking to benefit others/Nature).
- A Scar On My Side:
- I got the scar on my right side when we were living at the Air Force base in Nanyuki, Kenya. We were crossing a barbed wire fence that marks the perimeter of the Air Force base. I didn't bend down low enough as I went through the opening, and a barb on the top wire cut me. The fact that it happened while we were crossing a fence, represents crossing the fence that delineates the boundary between the quality of selfishness (seeking to benefit ourselves) and the quality of bestowal (seeking to benefit others/Nature).
