Love and hatred go hand in hand. You need one and it's opposite. First you need the hatred so you can come to know love. Without hatred, you can't know love.
Therefore, love is built on hatred. The greater the hatred, the greater the potential for love. With this understanding, you come to see that the bad is also good, meaning that hatred is a necessary part of getting to love.
As it is written, "Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers all wrongs." (Proverbs 10:12, NIV)
