The word "if" is used quite often in The Bible and The Quran. It shows us the choices we have - if we return to God or if we don't, if we remain immersed in selfishness (seeking to benefit ourselves with no regard for others), or if our internal qualities change from selfishness to bestowal and we seek to benefit others instead of ourselves etc. Here are some examples:
- "If you repent, I will restore you ... (Jeremiah 15:19, NIV)
- "If you disclose your charitable expenditures, they are good; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for you ..." (Quran 2:271, Sahih)
When reading The Bible and The Quran, look for the word "if". The word "if" gives us our options and explains the consequences of our choices and actions.
