The reason Jesus withdrew to lonely places is because:
- He was seeking an uninterrupted connection with God, where He could focus on his internality, instead of being distracted by the externality of this world.
- He needed a break from the games and plays that take place in this world.
- He needed a break from being micromanaged by those who orchestrate the games and plays of this world.
- There may be other reasons as well.
