When you make a cake, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, meaning a cake is greater than the sum of its ingredients.
While individual ingredients make a cake - flour, butter, eggs, sugar, cocoa, baking powder etc., they lose their individuality and become one cake. This isn't a contradiction.
If we connect with each other in mutual bestowal and seek to benefit others instead of ourselves, we'll become something greater than the sum of all our parts.
We'll retain our individuality, but also lose our individuality as we unite as one. This isn't a contradiction because both can exist at the same time.
Just as all ingredients of a cake are equal yet different, we too are all equal yet different. No one is greater than on more important than the other, we just have different roles to play
