Our Basic Needs - A Snapshot Of The World

The world's population is estimated to be about 7 billion people. [1] Here's a snapshot of the world today, based on our basic needs:
  1. FOOD:
    • About 1 billion people are undernourished. [2]
    • About 1.3 billion tonnes of food is lost or wasted each year. [3]
    • About 1.4 billion people are overweight, of whom 500 million are obese. [4]
  2. WATER:
    • About 700 million people still use unsafe drinking water sources [5]
    • About 2.5 billion people lack improved sanitation facilities. [6]
    • About 1.1 billion people still defecate in the open. [7]
  3. SHELTER:
    • About 1 billion people live in slums. [8]
    • About 1.3 billion people don't have electricity. [9]
  4. HEALTHCARE:
    • About 1/3 of the world's population (about 2 billion people) don't have access to essential medicines. [10]
  5. EDUCATION:
    • About 700 million adults are illiterate. [11]
We need to simplify our lives and focus only on meeting our basic needs. We need to ensure that the basic needs of all people on earth are met.

Round tables [12] need to be established with experts from the relevant fields, in order to resolve these issues, dealing with the most desperate (emergency) situations first.

In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

Education Needs To Change

Our entire educational system needs to change from competitive learning to cooperative learning. Round tables need to be incorporated into the classroom. Here is a list of changes that need to take place in the educational system:

Perception Of Reality

Perception of reality is simply a matter or habit and habits can be changed. We've gotten used to perceiving the world the way we do. When we go through a change in the perception of our reality, we'll get used to perceiving the world in a new way.

You Want To Be In My Position?

A lot of people want to be in my position - either to be in my position directly or to experience what I'm talking about - but the question is why? Is it coming from a place of selfishness or is it coming from a place of bestowal?

Do I seek to benefit myself, or do I seek to benefit others and bring contentment to The Creator?

The reason you want this, is it because you're seek to benefit yourself, or are you seeking to benefit others - do you want others to experience it so they can come to know the truth? Do you want to bring contentment to The Creator?

The quality of selfishness operates on a frequency of selfishness and reveals phenomenon connected with selfishness. The quality of bestowal operates on a frequency of bestowal and reveals phenomenon connected with bestowal.

When you enter into bestowal and start to benefit others instead of yourself, you'll begin to reveal phenomenon connected with the frequency of bestowal.

This path is a path of bestowal, meaning you can ONLY get closer to God if you seek to benefit others instead of yourself. It's a matter of the heart, your innermost desires, and God sees the heart. So be completely honest with yourself. Why do you want this?

Death As A Good Thing

Edited Aug 17, 2014.

There's the two forces in nature (bestowal and reception), then there's my story:

The Two Forces In Nature (Bestowal And Reception):

There are two forces in nature, bestowal and reception:
  1. Bestowal:
    • Is associated with the color white.
    • Is associated with dogs.
    • If bestowal dies, it's a bad thing because it means one is no longer in bestowal.
  2. Reception:
    • Is associated with the color black.
    • Is associated with cats.
    • If self-reception dies, it's a good thing because it means one is no longer in selfishness, one is in bestowal.
Here's My Story:

When I was about 12 or 13 years old, we lived in Mombasa, Kenya. We had two cats called Salt and Pepper. (Cats are associated with reception, salt is white so it's associated with bestowal and pepper is black so it's associated with reception).

One day I was playing with Pepper. I enjoyed seeing how innovative he could be. I would put him on top of the fridge to see how he would get down. He would jump on to the counter, then on the floor etc. After I did this a few times, he got fed up with me because he jumped straight down from the top of the fridge to the floor. He hurt himself quite badly and a few days later he had to be put down. I felt terrible. It was my fault.

As it turns out, this event has a positive meaning. The death of Pepper means the death of self-reception, the death of Receiving to Receive. Salt lived, which means reception would be transformed to bestowal, a state called Receiving To Bestow.

Basically, it means killing the quality of selfishness in order to be in the quality of bestowal, which is a good thing. However, once you're in the quality of bestowal, "You shall not murder" (Deuteronomy 5:17, NIV), meaning don't kill the quality of bestowal and fall back into selfishness.

This doesn't mean that people have free license to do whatever they want. Not at all. It doesn't mean that people should commit suicide. Not at all. Never commit suicide.

In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves, this includes being kind to all animals and to all of nature.

Men And Women Have Different Needs

Men and women have different needs:
  1. Women:
    • Women need men for love and for emotional companionship. She misses him when he's away because she becomes emotionally attached to him, she becomes lonely without him. He fulfills her internally and she needs that.
    • Men don't understand this about women because men don't need women the same way.
    • If men understood that women need them emotionally, and if men began to behave in a way that fulfilled this desire in women, then men would give women what they need and they'd become interconnected in a positive and constructive way.
      • For example, men could use certain gestures, behaviour, words or language to touch their women emotionally. He could say something tender to her, or spend more time with her.
      • In this way, men would rise above their personal selfishness, become immersed in the desires of women, and seek only to benefit women instead of themselves. Men would live to fulfill women.
  2. Men:
    • Men need women for love and men need women to admired them. Men need women to see them as great and important. Everything men do, they do to impress women.
    • Women don't understand this about men because women don't need men the same way.
    • If women understood that men do everything to impress them, and if they began to behave in a way that fulfilled this desire in men, then women would give men what they need and they'd become interconnected in a positive and constructive way.
      • For example, women could use certain gestures, behaviour, words or language to let men know that they appreciate them. She could praise him for his hard work or thank him for all his efforts.
      • In this way, women would rise above their personal selfishness, become immersed in the desires of men, and seek only to benefit men instead of themselves. Women would live to fulfill men.
Formal classes could be taught to teach men and women about each other, how to treat each other in mutual bestowal so they can become connected in a complementary way.

In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

All Family Members Are Equal

In a family, everyone is equal, no one is greater than or lesser than the other, but everyone has a role to play. If a family member doesn't play their role, the family becomes dysfunctional and falls apart.

For example, if a mother starts fighting with her kids, or if she starts behaving like her kids, or if she's absent altogether, then she's not fulfilling her role in her family.

A mother has a specific role to play in her family, she's a teacher, an instructor, a care giver, a nurturer, a disciplinarian, a role model etc. Her role brings stability to her family and her family comes to depend on her for her contributions.

The same is true for a father. He has a role to play in the family and if he doesn't play that role then the family falls apart.

The reason why so many families have fallen apart today is because fathers and mothers aren't playing their roles. They're too busy pursuing their own selfish interests.

We need to understand that we each have a role to play. We're equal, but we're different. In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

We Need To Grow Up And Become Mature Adults

We expect children to grow up and become mature adults, yet today we see many adults behaving like children. For example:
  • Men who disregard women aren't real men, they're childish boys.
  • Women who disregard men aren't real women, they're childish girls.
  • Anyone who disregards others for whatever reason, be it gender, race, religion etc., isn't mature, they're immature, they're childish, they haven't grown up.
We need to grow up and start behaving like mature adults. In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

The Entire World Is In A Lie

The entire world is in a lie - our perception is a lie and we constantly lie to each other, about our lives, our happiness, our intentions etc. - and this is how we live.

Nature is about balance, one against its opposite. Where there's a lie, comes The Truth. Today we're immersed in a lie, soon we'll be immersed in The Truth.

Desperate To Fit In

Sometimes we're so desperate to fit in that we become the loudest proponents of the side we're trying to join, and the loudest critics of the side we're trying to leave. Here are a few examples:
  1. Women Trying To Be Like Men:
    • Women and men are different, we have different qualities, attributes, temperaments and we have different roles to play in society. Unfortunately, in the past few years, women have been so desperate to become 'equal' to men, that some women have become the loudest critics of feminine qualities. Feminine qualities, such as looking after children, taking care of the home, creating a nurturing, caring, loving family unit are perceived as 'weak', compared to 'stronger' masculine qualities, such as working outside the home etc. Women leaving their role in society has been a disaster for families, for communities and for society as a whole. Children have suffered the most as a result of absent mothers, mothers who now spend all their time working.
    • Women need to embrace their feminine qualities and being to fully realize their role in society.
  2. The Jews/The Nation of Israel Trying To Be Like The Nations of The World:
    • The Jews/The Nation of Israel and The Nations of The World are different, they have different roles to play in society. Unfortunately, in the past few years, the Jews/The Nation of Israel have been so desperate to become like everyone else, that they've completely abandoned their role. So much so, that some Jews/Israelites have become the loudest critics of the Jews/The Nation of Israel. The result of the Jews/The Nation of Israel not playing their role in society has been a disaster for the entire world and everyone, including all of nature, is suffering as a result.
    • The Jews/The Nation of Israel needs to return to God and begin to fully realize their role in society.
People have different roles to play and we have to accept this. We're equal, but we're different. The sooner we accept our different roles, the sooner we can begin to play them, and the sooner we can bring harmony and balance to all of our lives.

In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

Connection Is Our Saviour

Connection is our saviour. If we connect with each other in mutual bestowal and seek to benefit others instead of ourselves, then we'll be saved from war, hatred, greed, corruption, abuse, neglect and all the negative and destructive things that come from the quality of selfishness.

Live As Though You're Being Watched

We tend to behave differently if we think we're being watched. For example people pay may pick their nose in private but not in public. Or people may be abusive in private but not in public.

Live your life as though you're being watched. Behave in private as you would in public. We shouldn't have a private standard and a public standard. We should have one standard. In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

The Influence Of Our Social Environment

Our social environment has a powerful influence on us. Behaviour is contagious. We tend to conform to our social environment because we want to fit in. Sometimes, we even defer to those around us because we think the group is more informed than we are.

Today we're all immersed in selfishness, seeking to benefit ourselves with no regard for others. This means we're conforming to a social environment that has negative, destructive and even dangerous behaviour. Here are a few examples:
  • Materialism: We buy because others buy, because we don't want to be left behind.
  • Riots: We loot because others loot, because we don't want to miss out.
  • Guns: We carry guns because others are carry guns, because we don't want to get shot.

We need to change from personal selfishness to mutual bestowal. We need to seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

If we build a new society that's based on the quality of bestowal, then our social environment would influence us in a positive and constructive way. Conforming to such a social environment would be a good thing because the consequences would always be positive.

Awards For People Who Contribute Positively To Society

With respect to awards, let's compare the quality of selfishness with the quality of bestowal:
  1. Selfishness:  Today we're all immersed in selfishness, seeking to benefit ourselves with no regard for others. Our entire society has been built on the quality of selfishness.
    • Values:  This means that we value things that are rooted in selfishness: aggressive competition, being the strongest person, being the richest person, being the smartest person, being the most powerful person etc.
    • Awards:  Even the awards we give out are rooted in selfishness. There are numerous awards in film, television, theater, music, sports, science etc., but they only benefit a select few.
  2. Bestowal:  We need to change from personal selfishness to mutual bestowal. We need to seek to benefit others instead of ourselves. We need to build a new society that's based on the quality of bestowal.
    • Values:  This means that our values will change. We'll begin to value things that are rooted in bestowal: cooperation, collaboration, unity, connection, equality, harmony and balance with nature etc.
      • If society begins to value people who contribute positively to society, then people will want to contribute positively to society so they too can be appreciated.
    • Awards:  We need to find new ways to reward people who make a positive contribution to society. We could create an awards ceremony, call it The Altruistic Awards or The Benevolent Awards.
      • There could be several categories such aspeople who help other people, people who help animals, people who help trees and plants, people who help the environment such as the air, land, water etc. There could also be sub-categories for people who contribute locally, regionally, nationally, globally etc. Can you imagine such an awards ceremony? It would be magnificent.

Birth And Labour Pains

Updated July 27, 2014

WORK IN PROGRESS:
This post is a work in progress and is subject to changes, revisions, edits and deletions. I've presented it here to give you an idea of a general concept; however, I'm not sure I've done a very good job explaining it. Please bear with me as I continue to work through this.

When it comes to birth and labour pains, there are three scenarios:
  1. NO PAIN, NO BIRTH:
    • " ...you who never bore a child ... you who were never in labor ..." (Isaiah 54:1. NIV)
    • In this world, I've never given birth, never been in labour.
    • Also, until 2005, I had never given birth to a new state of bestowal.
  2. FIRST A PERSON HAS PAIN, THEN GIVES BIRTH:
    • "As a pregnant woman about to give birth writhes and cries out in her pain ..." (Isaiah 26:17, NIV)
    • The diagram below explains this scenario.
  3. FIRST A PERSON GIVES BIRTH, THEN HAS PAIN:
    • "Before she goes into labor, she gives birth; before the pains come upon her, she delivers a son. Who has ever heard of such things? Who has ever seen things like this?" (Isaiah 66:7-8, NIV)
    • The diagram below explains this scenario.

God Will Save Me

I've heard this story a few times and there are several versions online. It's about a man who lived by a river, a man who had faith in God.

A man lived by a river and the river was expected to flood. An evacuation order was issued for the area but the man chose to ignore the evacuation order because he believed God would save him.

As the flood waters began to rise, a car came by and offered to take him to safety. He refused saying, "God will save me."

The waters rose even higher and a boat came by and offered to take him to safety. Again he refused saying, "God will save me."

The waters rose so high that he ended up on the roof of his house. A helicopter came by and offered to take him to safety. Again he refused saying, "God will save me."

Eventually he was overcome by the flood waters and drowned. When he got to heaven he asked God, "Why didn't you save me?" God said, "I tried to save you. I sent you an evacuation order, a car, a boat and a helicopter. Why didn't you let me save you?"

God uses us to help each other. In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

Has The Bible Been Changed To Eliminate Contradictions?

'Contradictions' in The Bible, The Quran and between The Bible and The Quran aren't actually contradictions. They only appear to be contradictions because we lack the insight to understand them.

There are many versions of The Bible. Have some versions been changed to eliminate contradictions? Have some versions been changed to 'correct problems' ?

Is the Quran right when it says, "They distort words from their [proper] usages ...?" (Quran 5:13, Sahih), or when it says, "those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah" ..." (Quran 2:79, Sahih)

Here's an example from The Bible:
  1. Here's a verse from the book of Kings. When you compare the King James Version (KJV) with the New International Version (NIV), they're both the same. Both say Ahaziah was 22 years old when he began to reign:
  2. A similar verse appears in the book of Chronicles. When you compare the KJV with the NIV, they're different. The KJV says that Ahaziah was 42 years old when he began to reign, whereas the NIV says he was 22 years old:
    • (2 Chronicles 22:2, KJV):  "Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign ..." This contradicts the book of Kings.
    • (2 Chronicles 22:2, NIV):  "Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year." [fn1] This aligns with the book of Kings.
    • When you compare all the different versions of The Bible, some versions say he was 42, while others say he was 22. This is very confusing. Here's the full list of all Bible versions for this verse: https://www.biblegateway.com/verse/en/2%20Chronicles%2022:2
This is one example, but there are other examples as well. Have some versions of The Bible been intentionally changed to eliminate contradictions?

These changes don't in any way take away from the central message of The Bible, which is to love God with all your heart and to love your friend as yourself.

In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

  1. NIV includes a footnote that reads, "2 Chronicles 22:2 Some Septuagint manuscripts and Syriac (see also 2 Kings 8:26); Hebrew forty-two"

From Selfishness To Bestowal

A Symphony Orchestra

A symphony orchestra plays in harmony. All the musicians are united as one.

Today we're immersed in personal selfishness. We think others are out of tune and they need to adjust to us. The truth is that I'm the only one who's out of tune, everyone else is in harmony. I need to connect with others so we can all become united as one.

In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

The Bad 1 and The Good 1

With respect to love, there's the bad 1 and the good 1:
  1. The Bad 1:
    • Self-love is about one person - me, myself and I. A person immersed in personal selfishness seeks to benefit themselves with no regard for others. They pursue their own selfish interests, seeking personal profit and gain.
    • Selfishness leaves us isolated, alone and unhappy.
    • The bad 1 is about individualism. It's about personal selfishness. It's about me, myself and I.
  2. The Good 1:
    • True love is about seeking to benefit others, so there has to be at least 2 people, at least another person, you and somebody else. Two people can become so interconnected that they become one.
      • Some wedding ceremonies include language that explains how a man and a woman become one flesh. (Genesis 2:24, NIV)
    • You can have 7 billion people who are united as one, united with one mind and one heart.
    • The seal of the United States of America [1] reads in Latin 'E pluribus unum', which means 'Out of many, one'.
    • There is only One God. (Quran 16:51, Sahih)
    • The good 1 is about connection. It's about mutual bestowal. It's about others.
    • It's also about many:
      • Our body has many parts but it's one body.
      • Our town has many streets but it's one town.
      • Our state has many towns but it's one state.
      • Our country has many states but it's one country.
      • Our world has many counties but it's one world.
      • Our universe has many galaxies but it's one universe.

What If Someone Else Experienced Your Life?

What if someone else experienced your exact same life? How would you feel? Is your life yours? Are your experiences yours? Do you own the experiences of your life? Or are they simply experiences that you've lived through? What if someone else lived through those exact same experiences?

We share many similar experiences together, like when we watch a movie together. While we share the same event, the event has a unique internal impact on each and every one of us.

Selfish Happiness Versus Altruistic Happiness

  • Selfish happiness is when you think about your own personal happiness.
  • Altruistic happiness is when you think about other people's happiness, when other people's happiness makes you happy.
  • In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

The Positive Meaning Of The Holocaust

The holocaust is a stain on history because of the atrocities committed against the Jews. Yet, the holocaust has a positive meaning.

Today, as we begin our return to God, the Nation of Israel and the Jewish people have a role to play. First, The Nation of Israel and the Jewish people have to wake up, meaning they have to return to God. Then, they have a role to play in bringing the entire world back to God.

In the future, when the entire world has returned to God, Israel's distinct role will no longer stand out because there won't be any difference between The Nations of the World and The Nation of Israel and the Jewish people. The entire world will be as one.

This dissolution of Israel's distinct role in the future is represented by the holocaust, it's the end of the distinct role of the Jews, merging into an integrated, unified humanity - which is an extremely positive thing.

Not to say that the Jewish people will cease to exist, not at all, but rather to say that The Nations of the World will come to know God just as the Nation of Israel and The Jewish people know God. All will be as one, united in the knowledge of The Lord.

Love Covers All Transgressions

Love is a very powerful force because it transcends everything. If you're in a state where you're seeking to benefit other instead of yourself, you forget about everything except what you can do to benefit the other person. Love covers all transgressions.

Love Of Others

The love of others yields love of The Creator. The hatred of others yields hatred of The Creator. You cannot hate others and love The Creator at the same time.

Also, if you hate others you hate yourself because they're a mirror reflection of you. What you see on the outside is a reflection of who you are on in the inside. You're connected to other people because they mirror who you are.

Connection Is The Goal

Connecting with others is a process that includes various steps; however, once we get used to the steps, habit becomes second nature:
  1. We have to rise above our egos. We have to stop being immersed in personal selfishness (seeking only to benefit ourselves). However, this isn't the goal.
  2. We have to connect with others. We have to feel others, sense others and become immersed in their desires. In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves. Connection with others is the goal.

Empathy Fuels Connection

In this video, Dr Brené Brown explains that 'empathy fuels connection', 'empathy is feeling with people'.

'Empathy is a choice, and it's a vulnerable choice because in order to connect with you, I have to connect with something in myself that knows that feeling.'

'What makes something better is connection.'

Insult Comics - No Laughing Matter

Laughter truly is the best medicine. When we laugh, we feel better. We enjoy comedy because it gives us an escape from the rigors of our everyday lives. However, we should be mindful to laugh WITH each other, not AT each other.

Insult comics defend their bits by saying it's just comedy intended to make people laugh. However, clearly not everybody's laughing because someone's the brunt of the joke.

If I make John laugh at Mary's expense, then I make John feel better but I make Mary feel worse. To make Mary feel better, I make her laugh at John's expense. So now Mary's feeling better, but John's feeling worse.

It's the perfect business venture because I'm both the problem and the solution. Through insults, I make people feel bad, and through comedy, I make them feel better. By making people feel bad, I ensure that my comedic services are always required because people seek comfort through comedy. Sneaky and wrong!

Do insult comics collude? Do they enter into some strange arrangement with each other, to keep each other perpetually employed? You insult my audience so they'll need me and I'll insult your audience so they'll need you?

Milton Berle said, "Laughter is an instant vacation." Insult comics give people a reason to need that vacation.

We love to laugh, that's true, but we should be mindful to laugh WITH each other, not AT each other. In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

A Letter To The Jewish People And The Nation Of Israel

From:
Carter Kagume

To:
The Jewish People and The Nation of Israel

Dear Jews and The Nation of Israel,

The Nation of Israel and the Jewish people have a long history with God. The Jews are known as the chosen people because you were chosen by God to play a specific role.

As such, you have certain qualities, traits and attributes befitting of that role.

However, today we're all immersed in selfishness, seeking to benefit ourselves with no regard for others. This means you're using your qualities, traits and attributes for your own personal selfishness, for personal profit and gain, instead of using them for God's intended purposes.

We all have to change from personal selfishness to mutual bestowal. We have to seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

The time of Israel is at hand. This means that it's time for the Jewish people and the Nation of Israel to return to God. You're being called upon to realize your role and to use your qualities, traits and attributes for God's purposes, to benefit others instead of yourselves.

You are a chosen people, that's true, but that doesn't make you greater than, better than or more important than others. You're chosen to be servants - to serve both God and the entire world - in the quality of bestowal.

Time is of the essence.

May The God of Israel, The One True God, The Infinite God, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob guide you, may He lead you and may He show you the way.

God is with us and to Him we shall all return.
Carter

Life Long Learning

In this world, we learn almost everything from others. Almost everything we know, we've learned from someone else. One example is that we're influenced by our social environment - family, friends, school, work, community, TV, internet, books, magazines etc.

The same is true for the next world. We have to learn about it from someone else. Once we learn about it, we'll influence others based on what we've learned.

In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

The Truth

The truth is as subtle as the difference between a toy car and an actual car. Both are cars and both are real; however, one's a toy and the other's an actual car. The actual car is the truth, whereas the toy car is a 'shell' of the truth.

While they're both cars, they're very different. If you had a conversation with a child about cars, you'd be speaking from two very different points of view.

This is what it's like once you've gone through a change in the perception of your reality. If you had a conversation with others about something, such as love or family etc., you'd be speaking from two very different points of view. You'd be in truth, whereas they'd be as children, speaking from a point of view that's a 'shell' of the truth.

Hatred Comes From Wanting To Be Right

Hatred comes from wanting to convince yourself that you're right. This comes from the quality of selfishness because the quality of selfishness always wants to be right.

The only thing we should despise is our own personal selfishness. Even then, we should ask ourselves, if There is None Else Besides Him, then everything comes from The Creator. And if everything comes from The Creator, what's left for us to hate?

In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

A Call To Israel To Unite

This is a call to Israel to unite. Israel you have a role to play in the world and you're being called upon to realize that role. In everything that happens, we have to trust that God is working to return us to Him. There is none else besides Him.

Israel, we have to connect in mutual bestowal. In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

May The One True God, The Infinite God, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob guide Israel, may He lead Israel and may He show Israel the way. God is with us and to Him we shall all return.
