Be Brave And Love

There are two rules about love: Love your friend as yourself and love God. From the love of friends we come to the love of God.

Love is when we seek to benefit others instead of ourselves. However, today, we're all immersed in selfishness, seeking to benefit ourselves with no regard for others.

Our social environment has a powerful influence on us and we desperately want to fit in. We tend to comply with our social environment because we want to be liked and we don't want others to think negatively of us.

We're more concerned about what other people think of us than we are about the people we should be loving, or the damage we do when we ostracize and condemn them. Perhaps we're afraid that they may compromise our faith, our standing in heaven or our relationship with God. Either way, we're only selfishly thinking about ourselves.

We have to brave. Even when our family, friends, colleagues, community and entire social environment is telling us to behave one way, we should be brave and just love.

Go against the grain. Go against personal prejudices, hatred, fear, loathing, revulsion, shame, and just love. Love no matter what.

In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.
