It's Time To Grow

Selfishness hasn't been wrong, it's served a purpose, but it's time to grow:
  • We learn from opposites. We can only know hot if we know cold. We can only know love if we know hatred. We can only know mutual bestowal if we know selfishness. We've been immersed in personal selfishness for some time, now it's time to change from personal selfishness (seeking to benefit ourselves) to mutual bestowal (seeking to benefit others).
  • As a child grows, we expect them to behave in a manner that's appropriate for their age. It's appropriate for a 5 year old to behave like a 5 year old, but it's not appropriate for a 10 year old to behave like a 5 year old. When we want our children to grow, we tell them that certain behaviour is no longer appropriate. The same is true for the quality of selfishness. We're going to grow from selfishness to bestowal, so the quality of selfishness is no longer appropriate behaviour.
Eventually, we'll come to realize that we were never in selfishness, we were always in bestowal. In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.
