The Man From The Desert

A man was on a long journey through the desert, travelling from one destination to another. Along the way he came to an oasis, where he stopped to rest. He was tired and exhausted and needed to regain his strength for the long journey that lay ahead.

The people in the oasis didn't know who he was, where he was from or where he was going. He got tired easily and was always out of breath, so they assumed that he was simply unfit.

In an attempt to help him, they put him to work, engaging him in meaningless make-work projects designed to increase his fitness and endurance.

Though they meant well, they did more harm than good, because he should have been resting instead of engaging in meaningless work.

When it came time for the man to leave, he was concerned about his strength. He was more tired than when we first arrived at the oasis. How would he endure the journey that lay ahead?
