Anybody can become a Jew because being a Jew is agreeing to a certain ideology - love of friends (seeking to benefit others instead of oneself), unity and love. A person from any nationality can become a Jew - French, Spanish, English, American, South African etc.
Jew (Yehudi), comes from the Hebrew word Yachad, which means unity.
Israel comes from the Hebrew words Yashar-El, which means straight to The Creator.
In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves. Anybody and everybody can ascribe to this ideology and become a Jew, united as one.
