Community Living: Tools

Edited Nov 8, 2014.

This post is a suggestion of ideas and ways that we could create a society that's based on bestowal, where we all seek to benefit others instead of ourselves. The goal is to increase the connection between us, foster cooperation, collaboration and unity, increase efficiencies and decrease costs, while focusing on our basic needs - food, water, clothing, shelter, healthcare, education etc. I'm sure you have your own ideas.

Here are some notes about TOOLS:
  1.  Have Community Tool Sheds:
    • Tools: The community tool shed would have a wide variety of tools and equipment such as screwdrivers, hammers, saws, chain saws, lawn mowers etc.
    • Main Tool Shed And Satellite Tool Sheds: You could have main tool sheds that have the widest variety of tools then have smaller satellite tool sheds that keep a smaller selection of tools.
    • Sign Out: You could make it so people could sign out tools for a certain length of time. Since we'd be operating on trust, people wouldn't intentionally damage, lose or keep tools for themselves. For example, people could sign out gardening tools if they wanted to put in a small garden.
    • Expert Assistance: You could have experts in construction, home maintenance, lawn maintenance etc., offer their assistance with projects, offer a helping hand, or give advise and instruction.
    • Efficiencies:  Efficiencies would be gained in several ways:
      • Saves Money: People wouldn't have to equip their homes with tools that they barely use.
      • Saves Space: People wouldn't have to store tools in their homes, which would save space.
      • Better For Nature: With fewer tools being made, there'd be less of a drain on Nature.
What ideas do you have for building a new society that's based on cooperation, collaboration and bestowal? In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.
