If you want to find God, all you have to do is WANT to find Him. That's all. We are the deficiency and God is the fulfillment.
If we're thirsty, we drink water. If we're hungry, we eat food. First the deficiency, then the fulfillment. The greater the deficiency, the greater the fulfillment. If there's no deficiency, then there's nothing to fulfill.
If we're not really thirsty and we drink water, we don't really enjoy the water. But if we're really thirsty and we have some water, we really enjoy the water.
By WANTING to find God, we create a deficiency for God to fulfill.
It is written, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7 NIV)
In this world, if we really want something, we do anything and everything to get it - we become restless, we can't eat, we can't sleep, that's all we think about day and night. This is the kind of deficiency we have to have for God.
Putting "Find God" on a to-do list and expecting it to happen isn't enough. It's not about looking for a new experience, having something to do or being entertained. You can't fake it, you can't pretend.
You have to WANT to find God in a deep, genuine and sincere way. It has to come from your heart. It's a very specific demand/cry that arises in a person once they've reached a point of despair, once they've realized that nothing in this world fulfills them anymore.
When you reach that point, cry out to The One True God, The Infinite God, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Ask Him to help you and He will.
