Rising Above Our Egos Isn't The Goal

Some Eastern religions focus on nullifying and subjugating the ego. This isn't enough. Rising above our egos isn't the goal. Connection is the goal.

Once we rise above our egos, we have to connect with each other in mutual bestowal. We have to adopt each other's desires as our own and seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

It's not simply about giving because a person can give while still immersed in personal selfishness. It's about sensing others, feeling others, becoming immersed other people's desires.

It's not simply about making other people happy because there are many destructive things that make people 'happy'. It's about doing good to others and seeking to benefit them in a positive and constructive way.

Mutual Bestowal

Mutual bestowal is when we become interconnected with each other in mutual concern and consideration, when we seek to benefit each other instead of ourselves.

To achieve this, first, we need to rise above our egos, we need to stop being immersed in personal selfishness and we need to stop harming others. Then we need to adopt each other's desires as our own and seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

If I adopt your desires as my own and I seek to benefit you instead of myself, then I become interconnected with you because I'm immersed in your desires.

If you adopt my desires as your own and you seek to benefit me instead of yourself, then you become interconnected with me because you're immersed in my desires.

Being interconnected like this is mutual bestowal.

From Personal Selfishness To Mutual Bestowal

Today we're all immersed in personal selfishness. We're all seeking to benefit ourselves with no regard for others. This has left us isolated, alone and unhappy.

We have to change. We have to rise above our egos and stop harming others. Then we have to adopt other people's desires as our own and seek to benefit them instead of ourselves. In this way we'll become connected with each other in mutual bestowal.

It's Not Enough To Give

Most altruistic acts today aren't true acts of bestowal. They're simply acts of giving. You can give while still remaining immersed in personal selfishness.

However, there's a small percentage of the population that's naturally in bestowal because it's their nature.

It's not enough to give, we have to become immersed in other people's desires. We have to adopt other people's desires as our own. We have to sense them, feel them and become them. This interconnection with others, is what defines true bestowal.

It's not about making other people happy because there are many destructive things that make people 'happy'. It's about doing good to others and seeking to benefit them in a positive and constructive way.

Habit becomes second nature. The more we rise above our egos and seek to benefit others instead of ourselves, the more we become immersed in bestowal.

In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

Being Interconnected In Mutual Concern And Consideration

What does it mean to be interconnected in mutual concern and consideration? Let's take a look:
  1. John Seeks To Benefit Mary:
    • John adopts Mary's desires as his own and spends all his time, energy and effort seeking to benefit her.
    • John rises above his ego and stops being immersed in his own desires. Instead, he becomes immersed in Mary's desires.
    • John stops being immersed in selfishness and he becomes immersed in bestowal, seeking to benefit others instead of himself.
    • While physically he's still John, he lives in Mary's desires, so he's Mary. In this way, John becomes interconnected with Mary.
  2. Mary Seeks To Benefit John:
    • Mary adopts John's desires as her own and spends all her time, energy and effort seeking to benefit him.
    • Mary rises above her ego and stops being immersed in her own desires. Instead, she becomes immersed in John's desires.
    • Mary stops being immersed in selfishness and she becomes immersed in bestowal, seeking to benefit others instead of herself.
    • While physically she's still Mary, she lives in John's desires, so she's John. In this way, Mary becomes interconnected with John.
Mary and John become interconnected with each other in mutual concern and consideration. In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

It's not about making others happy because there are many destructive things that make people 'happy'. It's about doing good to others, benefiting them in a positive and constructive way.

The Truth Unites

The quality of selfishness (seeking to benefit oneself) is a destructive force because when we're immersed in selfishness (selfishness is called a lie), we see our differences as an opportunity to hate, to be divided and to be separated.

The quality of bestowal (seeking to benefit others) is a constructive force because when we're immersed in bestowal (bestowal is called The Truth), we look past our differences, we appreciate our differences, we respect each other, we connect with each other in mutual concern and consideration and we unite as one family.

Even The Rich Get Divorced

You think money buys happiness? Think again because even the rich get divorced.

Hatred grows is all aspects of our society - the poor, the middle class and the rich. Regardless of our social status and wealth, our growing ego has left us all isolated, alone, unhappy and depressed.

When the rich get divorced, they reach a place of such hatred and loathing, they're willing to ruin everything just to get away from the other person.

They split up million and billions of dollars worth of assets and possessions simply to be rid of each other. Their hatred grows, it affects their behaviour and they ruin everything.

Our internal qualities have to change from selfishness to bestowal and we have to seek to benefit others instead of ourselves. We have to connect with each other in mutual concern and responsibility.

Money doesn't buy happiness. Happiness comes from our reciprocal mutual connection. In fact the more we connect, the more we'll unite as one.

When we're one, our connection can't be ruined because it'll be impossible to split us up. We'll be so interconnected and interdependent, you won't know where one begins and the other ends. We'll be united as one.

The Economy Of Debt

Debt is a problem in our world today. Individuals and countries face constant debt challenges. There are a number of issues that exacerbate this problem:
  1. High Interest RatesPeople and countries struggle to pay off their debts because of the high interest rates. Debt payments go towards interest instead of the actual loans. As such, people become trapped in debt.
  2. Easy Access To Debt:  We're surrounded by debt opportunities: credit cards, company cards, mortgages, bank loans etc.
  3. Culture Of Consumerism: Aggressive marketing practices are used to influence us to buy more things. Also, we want to be greater than others so we buy things to appear more important than others, to appear more prestigious than others etc.
  4. Unhappiness:  There's an emptiness within us that we can't seem to fill, no matter how much stuff we buy, but we still try. Debt gives us more 'money' to buy more stuff. The things we buy don't make us happy and debt makes us miserable, dealing with collection agencies etc. As such we become even unhappier so we buy more things to make us happier. We become trapped in an endless cycle of work, shopping and debt.
While debt initially gives us a short term good feeling because we have 'money', it's soon replaced by a long term bad feeling because we realize that we don't actually have money.

This debt issue can be dealt with if our internal qualities change from selfishness to bestowal, if we seek to benefit others instead of ourselves and if we become genuinely concerned for each other's welfare and well-being.

If our internal qualities change from selfishness to bestowal:
  1. High interest rates will cease to exist because people won't seek personal profit and gain at other people's expense.
  2. Access to debt will change and aggressive debt lenders who are only interested in making a profit will cease to exist. Also, we'll become united as one family and we'll help each other pay off our debts.
  3. The culture of consumerism will end and it will be replaced by balanced consumption.
    • All non-essential goods and services will cease to exist and our focus will be on meeting our basic needs: food, water, shelter, clothing, healthcare education etc.
    • Aggressive marketing practices will end
  4. We'll become connect with each other in mutual concern and responsibility and we'll become connected to God in quality. As such the emptiness that we feel inside will disappear and we'll become fulfilled and truly happy.
    • Society will tell us that true happiness comes from connecting with others and we'll spend our days seeking to benefit others instead of ourselves.
May The One True God, The Infinite God, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob guide us, may He lead us and may He show us the way. God is with us and to Him we shall all return.

Feeling Bad Because Of What We Feel We Don't Have

One of the things that makes us feel bad is not what we have, but what we feel we don't have.

The reason this happens is because we're bombarded by advertisements and other influences (through the media, TV, the internet, magazines etc.), messages that tell us that our lives aren't good enough, that what we have isn't good enough, that to feel happier, we should buy certain products, goods, and services.

Of course, we can't afford to buy all these things (and the truth is that we don't actually need them), but nevertheless, a gap is created between the life that we have and the life that we think we should have. This gap makes us feel bad and we become unhappy and depressed because we remain perpetually unfulfilled.

One of the startling statistics is that every year, nearly 1 million people die from suicide, and Europe has one of the highest rates [1].

Europe is a developed area, yet mental health and depression are a major problem. People feel bad not because of what they have, but because of what they feel they don't have. This is a serious problem.

How can we solve this problem? How can we eliminate depression and suicide? How can we stop people from feeling bad based on what they feel they don't have?

Our internal qualities have to change from selfishness to bestowal and we have to seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

As such, the aggressive marketing practices used by businesses will end, non-essential goods and services will disappear, people will be educated about mutual concern and responsibility and instead of seeking to benefit themselves (and thinking about what they don't have), they'll seek to benefit others.

May The One True God, The Infinite God, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob guide us, may He lead us and may He show us the way. God is with us and to Him we shall all return.

Do Not Be Afraid To Lose Everything

Today, our identity is tied up with how much money we have, what schools we went to, our status in society, the status of our family and friends, power, influence etc.

We build a life and we become emotionally attached to it, so much so that sometimes we resort to destructive behaviour to keep what we have, our money, power, influence etc. We don't want to let go of what we have so we fight to keep it.

This life is an illusion, smoke and mirrors, there's nothing there. Things are not what they seem and we have to let go of our attachment to the things of this life.

We shouldn't be afraid to let go of everything that we have and everything that we know. We shouldn't be afraid to lose our jobs, our wealth, our money, our families, our power etc.

If we connect with each other in mutual concern and responsibility, and we seek to benefit others instead of ourselves, we'll find a new family among us and we'll be fulfilled in a new way. But we have to let go of our old selfish ways in order to make room for this new life.

Do not be afraid to let go. Do not be afraid, God is with us.

We Have To Provide Healthcare To The Entire World

Our internal qualities have to change from selfishness to bestowal and we have to seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

The entire world is one family and we have to start treating each other as one family. As such, we have to start solving our critical problems by working together, collaborating and cooperating with each other.

In the spirit of mutual concern and responsibility and in the quality of bestowal/love of others/altruism, we have to provide the highest quality healthcare and health care to the entire world.

According to a 2011 report from the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately one-third of the world's population, around two billion people (2 Billion or 2,000,000,000) do not have access to essential medicines [1].

As such, people die of curable diseases because they don't have access to medicine or they can't afford it. We have to stop seeking profits over peoples' health, welfare and well-being.

Round tables need to be established to address this issue. We have to deal with this problem immediately and we have to solve it permanently.

Participants of the round tables could include representatives from all over the world, experts, professionals and/or leaders from: governments, not-for-profit organizations, the medical industry, the healthcare and health care industries, logistics, technology and other relevant fields.

Once the round tables have been established, all the problem-solving discussions and deliberations should be transparent and broadcast live on television and/or the internet, giving everyone around the world a chance to comment and/or vote on relevant issues. Once the course of action has been decided, the solution can be implemented.

May The One True God, The Infinite God, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob guide us, may He lead us and may He show us the way. God is with us and to Him we shall all return.

We Have To Provide Shelter For The Entire World

Our internal qualities have to change from selfishness to bestowal and we have to seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

The entire world is one family and we have to start treating each other as one family. As such, we have to start solving our critical problems by working together and by collaborating and cooperating with one another.

In the spirit of mutual concern and responsibility and in the quality of bestowal/love of others/altruism, we have to provide dignified shelter and housing for the entire world.

According to a 2003 report from the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-HABITAT), approximately one billion people (1 Billion or 1,000,000,000) around the world live in slums [1].

As such, they're subjected to undignified housing, disease, crime etc. Housing doesn't have to be large and extravagant, it can be simple and small, yet comfortable, secure, sturdy, nature-friendly, easy to erect, provide the appropriate protection against the weather and elements etc.

Round tables need to be established to address this issue. We have to deal with this problem immediately and we have to solve it permanently.

Participants of the round tables could include representatives from all over the world, experts, professionals and/or leaders from: governments, not-for-profit organizations, the housing industry, technology and other relevant fields.

We Have To Provide Safe Water To The Entire World

Our internal qualities have to change from selfishness to bestowal and we have to seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

The entire world is one family and we have to start treating each other as one family. As such, we have to start solving our critical problems by working together, collaborating and cooperating.

In the spirit of mutual concern and responsibility and in the quality of bestowal/love of others/altruism, we have to provide safe water and sanitation services to the entire world.

According to a 2012 report from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), over 700 million people around the world still use unsafe drinking water sources and 2.5 billion people (36% of the world's population) lack improved sanitation facilities [1].

Coupled with poor hygiene, this has serious consequences: thousands of children die or get sick everyday, productivity is affected due to illnesses, health systems are overwhelmed, women spend large parts of their day fetching water etc.

Round tables need to be established to address these issues. We have to deal with these problems immediately and we have to solve them permanently.

Participants of the round tables could include representatives from all over the world, experts, professionals and/or leaders from:  governments, not-for-profit organizations, the water supply and sanitation industries, healthcare and hygiene, logistics, technology and other relevant fields.

Once the round tables have been established, all the problem-solving discussions and deliberations should be transparent and broadcast live on television and/or the internet, giving everyone around the world a chance to comment and/or vote on relevant issues. A World Without Money

Can we live in a world without money?

Yes we can if:
  1. We stop being selfish, stop harming each other and stop using and exploiting each other for our own selfish gain.
  2. We realize that the entire world is one family and we begin to treat each other as family - we become genuinely concerned for each other's welfare and well-being.
  3. We connect with each other in mutual concern and responsibility, seeking to benefit each other instead of ourselves.
  4. We use the connection between us as currency, the currency of connection. We take care of each other and become guarantors for one another - I guarantee that I'll look after you and you guarantee that you'll look after me.
  5. We realize that we're a part of nature - we're not above nature. Nature is an integral system and we integrate with this system and live an integral life. We become interconnected and interdependent with each other and we reach harmony and balance with all of nature.
  6. We focus only on meeting our basic needs: food, water, clothing, shelter, healthcare, education etc. All other goods and services disappear because they become unnecessary in our integral life.
  7. Everyone contributes to society according to his/her ability and potential and is rewarded by society according to the value of his/her contribution to society. In this way, everything becomes FREE because everyone seeks to benefit others.
  8. If our internal qualities changes from selfishness to bestowal, we become connected with each other in mutual responsibility and we become connected to God in quality. We become God's people, as it is written, "And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation." (Exodus 19:6, NKJV)  Love replaces money.
May The One True God, The Infinite God, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob guide us, may He lead us and may He show us the way. God is with us and to Him we shall all return.

We Have To Stop Harming Each Other

Our internal qualities have to change from selfishness to bestowal. We have to seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

The transition from selfishness to bestowal happens in three stages:
  1. STOP HARMING OTHERS:
    • First, we have to stop harming others and nature.
    • We have to rise above our egos and selfishness, rise above the hatred we feel inside and stop harming other people, animals, plants and nature.
    • We have to stop seeking to benefit ourselves at the expense of others.
    • It is written, "Do to others as you would have them do to you." (Luke 6:31, NIV)
  2. SEEK TO BENEFIT OTHERS:
    • Then, we have to seek to benefit others and nature.
    • We have to sense the needs and desires of others and seek to benefit them instead of ourselves. We have to stop living in ourselves and start living in others.
    • We are all one family and we have to start treating each other as family. We have to connect with each other in mutual concern and responsibility and become genuinely concerned for each other's welfare and well-being.
    • Also, Nature is an integral system that is completely interconnected. We have to reach harmony and balance with nature by living an integral live that is interconnected with others and with all of nature. We're a part of nature, not above it.
    • It is written, "... love your neighbour as yourself ..." (Leviticus 19:18, NKJV)
  3. THE LOVE OF GOD:
    • Lastly, we have to reach the love of God.
    • As it is written, "You shall love the LORD (Yahweh) your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." (Deuteronomy 6:5, NKJV)

Contact With The Upper Force

Connection with others doesn't just connect you with others. It brings you into contact with the upper force.

When our internal qualities change from selfishness to bestowal, and we seek to benefit others instead of ourselves, two things will happen:
  1. We'll become connected with each other in mutual concern and responsibility. I'll seek to benefit you and you'll seek to benefit me.
  2. We'll become connected with God because our internal qualities will become similar to God's quality.

Love Keeps No Record Of Wrongs

Today, many of us are affected by bad things that have happened to us. We become bitter, we harbour resentment, we seek revenge, we want bad things to happen to the people who've hurt us, we want them to get their due (what's coming to them), we want to even the score, we sue them and take them to court etc.

We become trapped in the pain and hurt of our experiences and one of the things that makes us feel better is if pain and hurt is caused to the people who've caused us pain and hurt.

All of this comes from the quality of selfishness because we're only thinking about ourselves. We want to alleviate our own pain at the expense of others.

Love has different rules.

In love, the quality of bestowal, all you care about is seeking to benefit others, regardless of what they do to you or how they treat you. You rise above your ego, you let go of your hurt and pain, you transcend all the hate within you, and you seek to benefit others.

It no longer becomes about you, it becomes about others. You have to completely let go of yourself. You no longer care about your own personal state because all you care about is seeking to benefit others. And if others reciprocate and seek to benefit you, you become connected with each other in mutual concern and responsibility. You take care of each other with love.

As it is written, "Love ... keeps no record of wrongs ..." (1 Corinthians 13:4-5, NIV)

Be Free

Why trade the confinement of slavery for the confinement of prison? Be free.
Why trade the confinement of apartheid for the confinement of prison? Be free.
Why trade the confinement of poverty for the confinement of prison? Be free.
Why trade the confinement of oppression for the confinement of drugs and alcohol? Be free.
Why trade the confinement of abuse for the confinement of drugs and alcohol? Be free.
Why trade the confinement of loneliness for the confinement of drugs and alcohol? Be free.
Why trade one form of confinement for another form of confinement? Be free.

Today, we're all immersed in the confinement of selfishness, as we seek to benefit ourselves with no regard for others. In this state we trade one form of confinement for another form of confinement. We pile on misery upon misery.

We should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves and become genuinely concerned for each other's welfare and well-being. This is true freedom because it frees us from ourselves, from selfishness and from all the confinements that selfishness brings.

Be free and connect with others in mutual concern and responsibility.

We Have To Eliminate Starvation and Under-Nutrition

We have to begin to seek to benefit others instead of ourselves. It's time for the world to focus on things that are really important. We have the intelligence, the technology and the means. It's time.

In the spirit of mutual concern and responsibility and in the quality of bestowal/love of others/altruism, we have to eliminate starvation and under-nutrition in the entire world.

According to reports from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, nearly 1 billion people around the world are undernourished [1]. At the same time, each year over 1 billion tons of food produced for human consumption is lost or wasted [2].

The solution is pretty simple: get the extra food to the people who need it, strengthen the food supply chain and educate consumers.

Round tables need to be established to address this issue. It has to be dealt with immediately and it has to be solved permanently.

Participants of the round table could include representatives from all over the world, experts, professionals and/or leaders who work in government, in not-for-profit organizations, in the food industry, in logistics, in technology and in other relevant fields.

Once the round tables have been established, all problem-solving discussions and deliberations have to be transparent and broadcast live on television and/or the internet, giving everyone around the world a chance to comment and/or vote on relevant matters. Once the course of action has been decided, the solution can be implemented.

May The One True God, The Infinite God, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob guide us, may He lead us and may He show us the way.

God is with us and to Him we shall all return.
