We Have Different Capacities Of Output

We're all different, we're born with different God-given talents, traits and attributes, and we have different capacities of output. Here's a comparison of two people who have different capacities of output:
  1. Dave:
    • Dave was born with a natural capacity of output of let's say 100 units.
      • If he produces 80 units, he's slacking off.
      • If he produces 100 units, he's operating at his natural capacity of output.
      • If he produces 120 units, he's working really hard.
    • He doesn't have to work extra hard to produce 100 units, it comes to him naturally.
    • SELFISHNESS:
      • In selfishness, we only measure people's output, not how easily it comes to them.
      • Because Dave's capacity of output is high, he's paid really well, let's say $100,000. It doesn't mean that Dave is working extra hard, not at all, he may not be exerting himself at all because it comes to him naturally.
      • In selfishness, Dave uses his 100 unit capacity of output to TAKE FROM others and Nature instead of to GIVE TO others and Nature. By using his 100 unit capacity of output selfishly, he deprives others and Nature of the benefit they would have otherwise gotten had he used it benevolently. Basically, he steals 100 units of output from others and Nature.
    • BESTOWAL:
      • In bestowal, when Dave operates at his natural capacity of output of 100 units, he's equal to everyone else who operates at their natural capacity of output, even if their natural capacity of output is higher or lower.
      • How is Dave's natural capacity of output measured? Love.
      • In bestowal, Dave is driven to benefit others and Nature. He has no hidden agendas, no selfish calculations, and no concerns that others may not be doing their fair share - this is a calculation that comes from the quality of selfishness. Plus, if others are also in bestowal, they'll be doing everything they can to benefit others and Nature. In this way, Dave will be connected with them in mutual bestowal.
      • The only thing Dave is focused on is benefiting others and Nature and he'll intuitively give everything he can, using his 100 unit capacity of output (if not more) to GIVE TO society, to benefit others and Nature.
  2. Pete:
    • Pete was born with a natural capacity of output of let's say 10 units.
      • If he produces 8 units, he's slacking off.
      • If he produces 10 units, he's operating at his natural capacity of output.
      • If he produces 12 units, he's working really hard.
    • When Pete is working really hard (at 12 units) it's still lower than what Dave produces when he's slacking off (at 80 units). Just because Pete's capacity of output is less than Dave's, doesn't mean Pete's not working really hard.
    • SELFISHNESS
      • In selfishness, we only measure people's output, not how easily it comes to them.
      • Because Pete's capacity of output is low, he's paid poorly, let's say $10,000. It doesn't mean that Pete is slacking off, not at all, he may be working really hard.
      • In selfishness, Pete uses his 10 unit capacity of output to TAKE FROM others and Nature instead of to GIVE TO others and Nature. By using his 10 unit capacity of output selfishly, he deprives others and Nature of the benefit they would have otherwise gotten had he used it benevolently. Basically, he steals 10 units of output from others and Nature, which is less than what Dave steals.
    • BESTOWAL
      • In bestowal, when Pete operates at his natural capacity of output of 10 units, he's equal to everyone else who operates at their natural capacity of output, even if their natural capacity of output is higher or lower.
      • How is Pete's natural capacity of output measured? Love.
      • In bestowal, Pete is driven to benefit others and Nature. He has no hidden agendas, no selfish calculations, and no concerns that others may not be doing their fair share - this is a calculation that comes from the quality of selfishness. Plus, if others are also in bestowal, they'll be doing everything they can to benefit others and Nature. In this way, Pete will be connected with them in mutual bestowal.
      • The only thing Pete is focused on is benefiting others and Nature and he'll intuitively give everything he can, using his 10 unit capacity of output (if not more) to GIVE TO society, to benefit others and Nature.
Just because a person has a HIGH capacity of output, doesn't mean they're working hard. Just because a person has a LOW capacity of output, doesn't mean they're not working hard. We're all different and we have different capacities of output.

We may think that because Dave has a higher capacity of output that he's greater than, better than and more important than others, not at all. When we operate at our natural capacity of output, we're all equal. Plus, we have different roles to play.

Instead of expecting everyone to operate at the same capacity of output, we should acknowledge that we're different and we have different capacities of output.

We have to change from selfishness (seeking to benefit ourselves) to bestowal (seeking to benefit others and all of Nature). We should use our natural capacities of output to benefit others and Nature instead of ourselves.

How do we measure our natural capacities of output? Love.

Community Living: Work

Edited Nov 8, 2014.

This post is a suggestion of ideas and ways that we could create a society that's based on bestowal, where we all seek to benefit others instead of ourselves. The goal is to increase the connection between us, foster cooperation, collaboration and unity, increase efficiencies and decrease costs, while focusing on our basic needs - food, water, clothing, shelter, healthcare, education etc. I'm sure you have your own ideas.

Here are some notes about WORK:
  1. Only Work A Few Hours Each Day:
    • Instead of spending all our time working (e.g. 30-60 hours/week), we'd work only a few hours each day (2-4 hours/day) and the rest of the time we'd spend doing other things, such as spending time with each other, learning, contributing to society in other ways etc.
What ideas do you have for building a new society that's based on cooperation, collaboration and bestowal? In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

Struggling To Cope In Our Modern Day Society

Homeless, unemployed and lower income individuals are pressured to do more for themselves, to get a job (or a second job), to elevate themselves out of poverty.

But sometimes it's not just about getting a job, it's about something else. It's about not being able to cope with the pressures and demands of our modern day society.

Our modern day lives are a complicated mess of family, friends, school, work, hobbies, other interests, bills and other expenses etc. It's a lot to juggle, it's a lot to manage, and it's exhausting.

We're all different and we have different degrees of stamina and endurance. A few people can cope quite easily, most struggle to keep up, and some can't cope at all, they don't have the ability to manage their lives in the society that we've created, it's all too much. And rightfully so, it IS all too much.

Sometimes it has to do with mental health, but most of the time it has to do with the pressures and demands that we've created in our modern day society. Most people are burning the candle at both ends, which isn't sustainable. They'll reach a breaking point, and some already have.

Just because a person can't cope with the pressures and demands of our modern day society, doesn't mean that they should live in poverty. We should simply acknowledge that they can't cope, and those who can help, should. And we should change our society.

Imagine this: Some people experience states where even a simple thing such as having a shower becomes a huge chore. If you've never experienced such a thing you'd find it hard to believe. However, imagine if someone's struggling to have a shower, how will they get and keep a job? How will they do other things, such as go grocery shopping, cook meals, do household chores, manage bills and expenses etc.?

These people need a tremendous amount of support and a job is the least of their worries. We look after children in every way and sometimes we have to look after some adults in every way, by providing for their basic needs (food, water, clothing, shelter, healthcare etc.) without expecting anything in return.

We all assume that people are capable of anything, if they put their mind to it. That's true to some degree; however, we should acknowledge that we're all different and we go through different states. We should have sympathy, compassion and understanding for one another.

A society that has homelessness and poverty isn't a reflection of the homeless and poor, it's a reflection of a society that hasn't done enough to alleviate homelessness and poverty. It means that there's something wrong with the society, not that there's something wrong with the homeless and poor.

We need to create a new society, one that's built on the quality of bestowal, where everyone contributes to society, and in turn society looks after us.

We need to simplify our lives and focus only on meeting our basic needs - food, water, clothing, shelter, healthcare, education etc. This will simplify our lives, improve our health, and improve the connect between us, and between us and all of Nature.

In everything we do, we should seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

If You Become Unemployed, Don't Be Afraid

If you lose your job and become unemployed, don't be afraid and don't worry. We're all part of a system that is now seeking to restore balance and harmony in nature.

Today, jobs determine our status and self-worth. We're judged by the work we do and the money we make. However, you're not your job, you're a person first.

People need to come first. We need to think of people as people. We need to embrace a spirit of compassion and tolerance. After all, we are one family.

Today, our work/life balance is skewed because people work too much. We need to develop a health work/life balance so people have more time for family, friends and other activities.

Today we're engaged in excessive consumerism, buying things we don't need. We need to develop a system of balanced consumption that is focused on our basic needs - food & water, clothing, shelter, health care and education. Also, everyone has to live above the poverty line.

Today, money is our motivator, which leads to aggressive competition that harms people and nature. We need a new motivator, the amount people contribute to the well-being of society.

Today we work for ourselves, seeking to maximize personal profit and gain. We need to work for others in order to benefit them. We need to be fulfilled by other people's well-being.

Today, our selfish ambitions leave us isolated and alone. We need to connect with each other in mutual concern and consideration, which will create a sense of togetherness and solidarity.

The system that we're a part of today is currently out of balance. If you become unemployed, it means that the system is seeking to restore harmony in your life and in society as a whole.

Go with the flow, let go of your old expectations, stay calm and be open to any new changes that come into your life. It's all going to work out. You'll see.

A Letter to Employers and Employees Around The World

      From:
      Carter Kagume

      To:
Employers and employees around the world

      Dear employers and employees,

Work is an important part of our lives, but unfortunately today many people have become slaves to their jobs. People work 8, 10, 14, even 16 hours a day, living to work instead of working to live. It's modern day slavery.

Our jobs have robbed us of our time and energy and we have nothing left to give our families and friends. Yet we need our jobs for income, to keep up with the expected standards of living and to make better lives for ourselves.

However, our present work/life balance is not sustainable. Life is not meant to be lived working 16 hours a day. That's not life, it's slavery.

Something has to change. The entire work environment has to undergo a major overhaul. People need to live their lives and begin to realize their true potential in mutual responsibility and concern for others.

A WORK ENVIRONMENT CREATED BY SELFISHNESS

The current work environment has been created by the quality of selfishness, everyone is seeking to benefit themselves - employers are seeking to maximize profits and employees are seeking to maximize earnings.

The harsh realities of many work environments express this quality of selfishness - aggressive competition, long work hours, unrealistic deadlines and deliverables, interpersonal conflicts, tension, boredom, unhappiness and stress.

If you own a company or organization that's intentionally hurting it's partners, customers, and employees, one that takes advantage of others, seeks to maximize profits at the expense of others, neglects the true needs of others, is engaged in usury, charges excessive interest, has hidden fees, is engaged in fraud, deceptive marketing practices, unrealistic contracts with confusing fine print, corruption, mismanagement, misrule and other negative actions, it's time to stop this selfish behaviour.

If you're an employee working for a company or organization that's engaged in the selfish negative behaviour described above, it's time to rethink your position there.

A WORK ENVIRONMENT CREATED BY CONCERN FOR OTHERS

The work environment should be based on the quality of concern for others, seeking to benefit others instead of ourselves.

Employers should seek to benefit customers by providing high quality goods and services that meet the basic necessities for life. The goods and services should be priced fairly without overcharging to maximize profits.

Employers should seek to benefit employees by providing short work days (2-4 hours per day) and providing fair working conditions that create a healthy work/life balance.

Employees should work for companies and organizations that seek to benefit others, ones that provide goods and services that meet the basic necessities for life.

Employees should perform their jobs thinking of others. Think about how your work is benefiting others instead of thinking about what you're getting out of your job.

Don't work for yourself, work for others. Job satisfaction should come from how much you've benefited others instead of from how much you've benefited yourself.

The work environment has to undergo a major overhaul:

      1.  Companies, organizations, employers and employees have to work on the principles of mutual guarantee, seeking to benefit others instead of themselves.

      2.  Only companies and organizations that are focused on providing the basic necessities for life will exist. All superfluous companies and organizations that don't provide any value to others will cease to exist.

      3. Aggressive competition and seeking to maximize profits will stop. Companies and organizations will provide goods and services almost at cost, because the focus will be on benefiting others instead of themselves. All negative business practices will stop.

The principles of mutual guarantee and reciprocal concern for others will change the work landscape:  profits will decrease, the price of goods and services will decrease, working hours will decrease and working conditions will improve.

The workplace will become harmonious as everyone seeks to benefit others. It will become a place of joy and happiness as people take pleasure from other people's pleasure, and happiness will come from other people's happiness.

The entire world is going to undergo this change. Every social, political and economical system will be affected. We will all seek to benefit others instead of ourselves.

Don't hang on to the old selfish paradigms, let go and allow the transformation that's coming to take place. Out with the old and in with the new. We will succeed, but only together.

May The One True God, The Infinite God, The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob guide you.

God is with us and to Him we shall all return.
      Carter
