Don't Ask Me Who I Am

Updated Nov 10, 2015

Don't ask me who I am because even if I told you, you wouldn't believe me.

Scripture states that, "A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses." (Deuteronomy 19:15, NIV) If I tell you who I am, how would I comply with this requirement? Jesus was asked the same thing.

God Himself and I are two witnesses, but because you can't see this relationship, you'll be given four witness to tell you who I am: God will send someone to tell you who I am, my works tell you who I am, Scripture tells you who I am, and the world and the history of the world tells you who I am.

Here's an explanation:
  1. God Himself and I Are Two Witnesses:
    • There are two of us, me and God Himself. So when I speak or write, there are two witnesses - me and God Himself.
      • Of this, Jesus said, "... if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid ... I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me. In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is true. I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me." (John 8:14-18, NIV)
      • Jesus seems to contradict himself because he also says, "If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true." (John 5:31, NIV) Meaning, if he testifies about himself without being connected to God, his testimony is not true. So, if I testify about myself, without being connected to God Himself, my testimony is not true. There always has to be two of us, me and God Himself.
    • The problem is that you can't see the relationship that I have with God. You can only see me. So, even though my testimony is valid, you wouldn't believe me. Therefore, in order to comply with the two witness requirement, you'll be given four witnesses to tell you who I am:
  2. Four Witnesses:
    • First, God Himself will testify about me by sending someone to tell you who I am.
      • The person God sends won't speak of his own accord, he will say only what God tells him to say. God Himself will speak through him. As such, God Himself will testify to you about who I am. This hasn't happened yet, but it will.
      • Of this, Jesus said, "... the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me ..." through "... the one he sent." (John 5:37, NIV) Jesus was talking about John the Baptist, whom God sent to tell the people who Jesus was.
      • Remember, I am both the quality of reception (the wolf) and the quality of bestowal (the lamb), as it is written, "The wolf will live with the lamb ..." (Isaiah 11:6, NIV) The person God sends to tell you who I am will reveal this in what he says.
    • Second, my works testify about me:
      • My works are a direct reflection of who I am. Instead of telling you who I am, look at my works because they tell you who I am.
      • Of this, Jesus said, "For the works that the Father has given me to finish - the very works that I am doing - testify that The Father has sent me." (John 5:36, NIV)
      • God Himself and I both testify: God Himself testifies through someone else and I testify through my works.
    • Third, Scripture testifies about me:
      • My life and the events of my life are reflected in Scripture.
      • Of this, Jesus said, "These are the very Scriptures that testify about me ..." (John 5:39, NIV)
    • Fourth, the entire world and the history of the world testifies about me:
      • Due to "The Mirror Effect", the entire world and the history of the world are a reflection of who I am. What's on the outside is a reflection of who I am on the inside. So if you want to know who I am, look at the world and the history of the world.
Here's a list of some of the signs that tell you who I am. They've been published under a separate post on this blog titled, "Signs That Tell You Who I am".

So don't ask me who I am because even if I told you, you wouldn't believe me. You'll be given four witnesses to tell you who I am: God Himself will send someone to tell you who I am, my works tell you who I am, Scripture tells you who I am, and the entire world and the history of the world tells you who I am.
